More press, second CD release party, new song and Zack Whedon!

Wow, the reception for our Leaves on the Wind EP continues to be just been fantastic!  Check out this great review from MusicWorthBuying and our review in the Desert Star Weekly

The Can't Stop the Serenity event/ CD Release party was blast. Through ticket sales (sold out!), auctions, donations and CD sales, the California Browncoats raised over $3500 for Equality Now and we were so proud to be a part of that. We opened the event with a performance of the Firefly theme song, and a few songs from the EP, then watched one of my favorite episodes on the big screen, Out of Gas. After that we performed the rest of the songs on the EP and closed with a rousing rendition of "Hero of Canton" then settled in with a big bucket of popcorn to watch Serenity.  A special thank you to Geo, Matt and Matt for making our music really come alive and to Boris for making sure we sounded good! Also, hello to our new Browncoat friends, especially Dawn, Susie, Mike, John and Randy, it was wonderful meeting you all!

We also gave away 5 free copies online our online followers, so congratulations to our winners: SWLA Browncoats and Danny Bowes on Facebook, @M0LZ4 on Twitter and poetrymafia and dragon-kitty on Tumblr!

Big News!!
Because a lot of our regular friends and fans couldn't make it to the CSTS event, we're having a second CD release celebration at Comic Book Hideout in Fullerton this Saturday, October 12 at 7pm and it's absolutely free! We'll be performing some songs and giving away a few free copies, so if you've never seen or heard of Firefly and are wondering what all the fuss is about, this is a great opportunity to check it out. Also, our friend Glynnes owns the store and both she and it are amazing, so you if you like comic books, pinball, superheroes, local art, board games, or just fun quirky stuff, you should come discover this gem of a shop! Here's the details:

Speaking of comic books, Zack Whedon just confirmed that he's working on a new six issue mini-series of Firefly comics with Georges Jeanty called - get this - Serenity: Leaves on the Wind!!! Is that a weird coincidence or what? Hey Zack, call me - we should work together on something!  The comics are launching January 29, 2014 - perhaps in time for a Leaves on the Wind Vol. 2 EP? We'll see!

Oh - one last thing!  We are finally officially releasing the final song from the EP, Big Damn Hero!  This song is inspired by the episode Safe and focuses on the the immense sense of love and family between siblings Simon and River Tam and how each saves the other in their own way. Enjoy and share!
