Firefly CD Release this Saturday, New Video, Reviews & a Free song!

So we've been super crazy working our new cd here.  How crazy?  Well, todays email is being written by Tracy*!!   She's been doing a lot of updates on the website about it and what she wrote is pretty much everything I need to tell you.  I will add that this week we released the final video for the new cd for the song "Big Damn Hero"** and the free song in todays email is in fact that song.  Some people would say "Bobbo, you can't give away your brand new song, that goes against marketing 101, you are a bad capitalist!"***

Move over and let Tracy take over:

Big News!!
Because a lot of our regular friends and fans couldn't make it to the CSTS event, we're having a second CD release celebration at Comic Book Hideout in Fullerton this Saturday, October 12 at 7pm and it's absolutely free!  We'll be performing some songs and giving away a few free copies, so if you've never seen or heard of Firefly and are wondering what all the fuss is about, this is a great opportunity to check it out. Also, our friend Glynnes owns the store and both she and it are amazing, so you if you like comic books, pinball, superheroes, local art, board games, or just fun quirky stuff, you should come discover this gem of a shop! The Can't Stop the Serenity event/ CD Release party was blast. Through ticket sales (sold out!), auctions, donations and CD sales, the California Browncoats raised over $3000 for Equality Now and we were so proud to be a part of that. We opened the event with a performance of the Firefly theme song, and a few songs from the EP, then watched one of my favorite episodes on the big screen, Out of Gas. After that we performed the rest of the songs on the EP and closed with a rousing rendition of "Hero of Canton" then settled in with a big bucket of popcorn to watch Serenity.  A special thank you to Geo, Matt and Matt for making our music really come alive and to Boris for making sure we sounded good! Also, hello to our new Browncoat friends, especially Dawn, Susie, Mike, John and Randy, it was wonderful meeting you all!

We also gave away 5 free copies online our online followers, so congratulations to our winners: SWLA Browncoats and Danny Bowes on Facebook, @M0LZ4 on Twitter and poetrymafia and dragon-kitty on Tumblr!

Oh - one last thing!  We are finally officially releasing the final song from the EP, Big Damn Hero
!  This song is inspired by the episode Safe and focuses on the the immense sense of love and family between siblings Simon and River Tam and how each saves the other in their own way. Enjoy and share!

So that's it for this week.  I will have lots more goings on next week.  OH, I know what I forgot!  We've already started work on Leaves on the Wind Vol 2 and wrote the first song for it this week.  We're planning on playing that song as well at the CD Release.  It's for the episode "Our Mrs. Reynolds"  We're also being joined by Geo (violin) and Matt (mandolin, banjo, guitar****) for this show and of course Chad on a very unique drumset-y type of thing.

Please join us.  There will also be cookies.  Here's the Facebook event for the night.

You want info about our record deals?  Albums on iTunes?  New touring?  New Album?  All those stories plus we'll also recap the Red Sox ALCS playoff run after these messages.

*I know right!?  And apologies on the weird formatting.  It's 2:23 am and I can't figure out why some is big and some is small.
**Don't worry, the link is in here.
***Yeah, the people who say things like that are usually Tracy.  She doesn't usually say the capitalist line but I hear it anyway.
****We had rehearsal tonight and after we did the Firefly songs, we ran a bunch of our regular songs with the addition of violin and mandolin/acoustic and it was so awesome!  Hope you get to hear it because it was that cool.  There were a few times where the hair on my arms stood up, it was that cool.
